Okay, Maybe this isn't so Bad....

Dear Readers,  This family history project is going to be the death of me. I have spent all evening holed up in my dad’s study reading through dusty old books and learning more about my family than I ever wanted to. There is one cool thing about it though, every woman in my family kept a diary. My dad has pages dating back to the 1200s the only ones he’s never been able to find are those of the mysterious great-grandmother from Kolland. Reading some of these entries made me feel closer to them somehow. It's like I understood exactly what they were going through because it’s the same things I’m dealing with now.  They announced on the news today that someone at the Kolland dig site came across an old book. Apparently, they were able to find the name of someone named Crystin and I swear my dad had tears in his eyes when they discussed the find. I wonder if this is the mysterious missing diary my dad’s been looking for. Hopefully, he finds some answers soon.  Till next time,...

Really Dad? Really?

Dear Readers,  And Dad strikes again! He decided to turn our discussion about the dig into a “teachable moment” for everyone and assign us all to research our family history. I don’t understand why he’s pushing this so hard. It’s not like I care much about where we come from or how we got here. He even went as far as telling the entire class that my however many greats-grandmother was from Kolland. As if I needed another reason for my classmates to hate me. It’s bad enough that my dad is the history teacher, now he just had to go and assign us the homework assignment from hell. I predict a lot of lonely lunches in my future. To make matters worse, Jason has decided that this new piece of information will be extremely useful to him in his never-ending quest to make me the laughingstock of the school. He’s started calling me Helga and making jokes about How to Train your Dragon. Just two more years until graduation. I just have to survive two more years right? Till next time,  L...

Why Must History be a Thing?

Dear Reader,  So let it be known that I LOATHE history. I mean what is the point of learning about what some dead guys did over 100 years ago? Besides most of the time, it always ends up in a freaking war! Don’t we see enough of that on the news? Why do we have to learn about it every day in school too? I can’t wait until I graduate and get out of this place! What makes it even worse is the history teacher is my dad, so not only do I have to listen to him drone about it for an hour a day, I have to listen to him talk about it at home too. Today’s lecture was about some archeological dig they are doing on some random island off the coast of Iceland. According to Daddy Dearest, it was the same island my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother or whatever was from. I don’t think he appreciated it too much when I pulled the homework card to get out of that discussion. Sorry dad, if you wouldn’t assign so much homework, maybe I would stick around…or not.  ...

Jason is at it Again...

Dear Readers,      The nemesis strikes again. And again. And again. Somedays I feel like he'll never let the past go. So what if I spilled grape soda on his favorite Pokemon shirt? We were in kindergarten for crying out loud! Let it go.     Ever since that  unfortunate  incident, he's done everything he can to make my life miserable. Yesterday he decided to troll me on Twitter and I lost a bet as a result...guess who now has a date to prom?     Isn't it enough that he makes my high school experience miserable, does he really have to attack me online too? I wish I could block him on every platform known to man but there's just one problem...he's my neighbor.  Till next time,  Lexi
